The Story Of KeHago, so far!
Not born and bred in Cancun, like so many, the founder, Nicho, moved to Cancun before the pandemic and had high hopes of enjoying everything Cancun had to offer, obviously it was shut!!!
Gradually reopening after Covid, Nicho soon realised that it was very difficult to find information about what to do in this magnificent city.
Yes there were WhatsApp groups, facebook groups, word of mouth, Google searches and various websites, but nothing putting all that information under one roof.
With Nicho’s marketing background he could see that there was an obvious need for something to help the restaurant, events and pastime businesses share their details.
KeHago was eventually born. First and foremost Nicho wanted to help businesses with his marketing expertise, but also not a day went by without someone saying that not much happened in Cancun, and daily he was finding amazing things happening but not being promoted.
He went to half empty Dance School performances, empty restaurant serving amazing food and met struggling coaches and tutors needing more students to teach.
The plan was to get their information in front of as many local eyes as possible.
With all three categories, there are potentially about 12,000 businesses, so KeHago needed to divide into three different websites but all joined together to form one site, KeHago.
Importantly, Nicho didn’t want KeHago to be a review, recommend and ‘the best whatever’ site, he strongly believes that one person’s dream is another person’s nightmare, and so many times a one off visit somewhere can give a false impression, good or bad. His ethos is information is king, then you can decide if further contact is needed. He also believes that if there’s a problem you should tell the business in the nicest possible way and help it improve their offering. Everyone has bad days and shouldn’t be branded as ‘avoid at all costs’ just because mistakes were made.
Also he wants EVERYONE included from the easy to find Hotel Zone restaurants to the smallest of small street food vendor that appears one day and hole-in-wall that sells cochinita to neighbors. Large sports events to small school events. Crochet groups to large teaching facilities. Everything that someone might do in their freetime, eat, watch and get involved in. Cancun is a smorgasbord of different places to eat, different things to watch and different things to learn and get involved in, let’s make this a great local search engine, the go-to site to find information about what’s going on in Cancun.
For a marketing and business point of view, it is also Nicho’s belief that support is key. So. with that said, he has put together a team, divided into 15 different areas of the city, that will not only guide their local businesses through the initial phases of publishing a listing, butimportantly, stay with them and support their progress month by month, helping improve their marketing and help new customers find what they are offering. They will help with promoting on Kehago’s Social Media platforms, helping make photo and video contant, as well as helping write the copy to best ‘sell’ what their business stands for. It will not be a case of get the sign up and leave, it will be maintaining a marketing relationship and helping where help is needed. Sadly, a lot of businesses are fantastic but afraid to shout it from the roof tops, KeHago and the local support staff with help them do exactly that. The locals want to know and we want to tell them!!!
